“THE MOUNTAIN LEOPARD”

A tribute by Sakina Burhauddin Arabi Grade IX A

18ᵗʰ February 2021 will always be remembered as a sad day when a great mountaineer entitled as “the mountain leopard” left this world and hoisted the flags of bravery and loyalty on heights unimaginable and depths unreachable. Since his childhood, Ali was never taught the meaning of the words desolation, impossibility, and difficulty. For him, all was possible with a little effort and passion. In fact, he climbed with a deep intention of love on those beautiful mountains.

He lived in a village called Sadpara which is 3000m above the sea level, where he practiced and his passion grew and finally changed into his bread winning exercise. Later on, he became a perfectionist after carrying the baggage of many foreign mountaineers many atimes. He spent a lot of time with them which helped him to learn their language and became an eloquent English speaker, However he never went to school but he got a well educated companionship where foreigners need him to help them to reach the summit.

His history shows that how fast and perfect mountaineer he was. At that point, those well-educated and well-trained mountaineers have followed him and taken his advice. His accent and vocabulary was that good that he could communicate in a proper manner. His desire to feel the clouds in his hands didn`t stop even when his fingers got frost bites and his bone swelled up.

He was recognized amongst a crowd of thousands just because of his pure and dazzling smile. His sacred love for Pakistan always pushed him to do the impossible.

On his last mission, before he left us, he was on the mission of summiting K2 in winter, which is impossible. He was accompanied by his son, John Snorri, and Juan Pablo Mohr.
Well, Ali did not only change the meaning of the word passion but also revealed the true colors of PATRIOSTISM! What does it mean to be free? Does it mean to cover ourselves all green and white!? No!

It asks for something much better than this. Being patriotic means to fight along with the unity and to intensely love your country. We were taught this lesson by no one but Mohammad Ali Sadpara.

It feels sad to even recall that people like him are recognized after their deaths. My heart aches to remember that he is no more. I feel so sorry for this society who only cares for likes and ratings.
“OMG! IS HE INSANE?” was the commonest of all reactions. If you ask me, I don`t think he was normal! Normal people do not climb peaks like k2 in winter worrying about their country and its name only. Normal people do not risk their lives for the sake of their country`s honour.

If this is not being normal, I do not want to become one.
